South Asian Bhärät (India) - Kathi Silk Embroidered Wall Hanging

Silk embroidered Kathi wall hanging from Bhärät (India). Hindu gods such as Ganesha, Su, Radha Krishna, and Hanuman are all depicted in their embroideries. Peacocks, elephants, lions, camels, and flowering plants, sometimes women churning butter, wedding ceremonies, and hunting scenes are also used. They use untwisted silk-floss for their embroidery, combining herringbone stitching with fishbone ones.
