Fine metallic and silk embroidered calligraphic wall hanging from Häläb (Aleppo), Suriyä (Syria).
In the traditional folk art style of Gaziantep, where people used to hang such embroideries as paintings since imagery was forbidden in Islamic faith. We can see blossoming pomegranate branches, carnations, and the seal of the late 19th century Ottoman sultans. Lace metallic crochet guard edges. It is in great condition.
Dated between the 1900s and 1920s
