Central Asian Tocikston (Tajikstan) – Uro Teppä (Uroteppa) Nim Suzani

Fine Nim Suzani Embroidery on Hand-loomed Cotton from Uro Teppä (Uroteppa), Tocikston (Tajikstan). Uro Teppä is now known as İstärävşän (Istaravshan). This piece has an old patch on its lower center part from when it was used for praying. It is rare to see such Nim Prayer Suzanis being used. They are usually for hanging and decorating walls. This one was used because of its cotton foundation and strong cotton backing. Great saturated natural colors. Fine embroidery on hand loomed cotton. Traditional Gurkani (Mughal) style floral motifs with natural dyed cotton backing.
