Ottoman era Silk Embroidered Bohça (Bokhcha) from Edirne, Türkiye (Turkey). The early Ottoman capital of Edirne was one of the major textile centers of the empire and remained so even after Istanbul became the capital. Various silk and metallic yarn embroidery pieces used to be produced here. Even today, the embroidery traditions seen in this piece survive. Silk chain stitch embroidery on linen. Eight pointed Turkmen star in the center with pomegranates blossoming in a circle or pinwheel form. The design is a continuation of classical Ottoman era drawings. Saturated natural colors. Great condition but without backing.
