Hissar Silk Adras Indigo Weft Ikat Fragment from Tocikston (Tajikstan). Adras Ikats are a mixture of 50 % silk warps and 50 % cotton wefts, which gives its body to the fabric and makes it last longer. They are usually woven 300 – 500 feet / 100 – 150 meters long. Stylized solar motifs in various sizes which represent fertility. Tocik Adras Ikats have a softer handle when compared to Özbek (Uzbek) Adras Ikat which comes from softer silk warps. A great balance with natural dyes of gold yellow, indigo blue, pistachio green, and cochineal red. Overall, it is in great condition.
It is dated between the 1900s and 1920s
