Silk Ikat Adras Fragment from Buxårå (Bukhara), Özbekistan (Uzbekistan). Adras Ikats are a mixture of 50 % silk warps and 50 % cotton wefts, which gives its body to the fabric and makes it last longer. They are usually woven 300 – 500 feet / 100 – 150 meters long. It probably depicts a tree of life in pine tree form which is sacred and common between Turkic peoples in Türkistan (Central Asia). The tree is a main element in the beliefs and cultures of the steppe. It is in perfect condition.
It is dated between 1870 and 1880
