Block Printed Bohça (Bokhcha) from Tokat, Türkiye (Turkey). Tokat used to be an Armenian and Türkmen settlement. Armenians were famous block printers and painters there. They used to make such great compositions for the general market in those days. This form of art still survives in the province of Tokat. An early design mimicking lace embroidery with little flowers and running river design. Botehs are in the form of blossoming flowers in all corners. The background color used to be called “Sugar Pink” in those days.
It is dated between the 1940s and 1950s or earlier
