Central Asian Tocikston (Tajikstan) – Hissar Silk Adras Indigo Ikat Fragment

Hissar Silk Adras Indigo Weft Ikat Fragment from Tocikston (Tajikstan). Adras Ikats are a mixture of 50 % silk warps and 50 % cotton wefts, which gives its body to the fabric and makes it last longer. They are usually woven 300 – 500 feet / 100 – 150 meters long. Amazing saturated natural dyes with green, light cochineal, soft yellow, and deep ocean blue colors. It is made of a few fine quality Ikat fragments. Such older ikats have over 4000 warp yarns.

It is dated to the 19th century
