Antique Silk Adras Ikat Çåpån (Chapan) from Buxårå (Bukhara), Özbekistan (Uzbekistan). The best Ikat fabric has silk and cotton mixed in equal amount. They are woven with 50 % silk and 50 % cotton so that the fabric would have a body with a longer use period. They are usually woven 300 to 500 feet or 100 to 150 meters long. Such older ikats have over 4000 silk warp yarns so that the design can be very clear. Saturated yellow, green, purple, and light cochineal colors are used in a harmony. Lined with Rus (Russian) floral design printed cotton and Adras Ikat facing. It is in good condition with some parts still bearing egg white treatment. It can still be worn on special days. A symbol of fertility, the pomegranate motif, covers the surface. Silk chain stitch embroidered applied trim.
