Velvet Bindallı Bridal Dress from İstanbul (Istanbul), Türkiye (Turkey). This traditional Ottoman wedding dress, known as a Bindallı or "thousand branched," was made with the fine metal wrapping couching thread embroidery technique known as Sim-Sırma. These dresses were worn by Muslims and Jews alike on their wedding days and special festivals. The style of this Bindallı is called üç etek, i.e. the "three pieces" skirt. This dress survived in a hope chest for a long time and is in perfect condition. It can easily be worn. It is dated to the pre-1900s.
