Central Asian Özbekistan (Uzbekistan) - Buxårå (Bukhara) Silk Nim Prayer Suzani

Silk Embroidered Nim Prayer Sozana (Suzani) from Buxårå (Bukhara), Özbekistan (Uzbekistan). Fine chain-stitch embroidery on atlas ikat which was woven using a silk and cotton mixture. Features a traditional prayer design. After the Soviet breakdown, Özbek tribes went back to their tradition of making fine Sozanas with older, classical designs. Such Sozanas are a revival of antique ones, but made in the very same tradition. There are natural colors from vegetable dyes in this piece. Its floral designs descend from Gurkani (Mughal) and Özbek traditions.
