Central Asian Özbekistan (Uzbekistan) - Marğilån (Margilan) Silk Velvet Ikat

Silk velvet Ikat from Marğilån (Margilan) in Farğåna (Fergana), Özbekistan (Uzbekistan). Marğilån became the center of velvet Ikat weaving after the Soviet break down in 1991. Özbek (Uzbek) people have rapidly returned to their textile arts, producing great ikats and their famous Suzani embroideries. This is a beautiful sample from a 19th century design. It has the highest quality silk – dye in an older style with saturated colors.
