Middle Eastern İran (Persia) - Esfähan (Isfahan) or Kerman Hat
$850.00
Twill Tapestry Hat from Esfähan (Isfahan) or Kerman, İran (Persia). Twill tapestry is one of the common weaves in Esfähan (Isfahan) and Kerman in addition to Termeh and Näkşe silk metallic brocades. They made various clothing and garments from such wool and brocade fabrics. Kerman still has active Dervish Lodges; however, we don’t know which group this hat used to belong to. It has a firm strong body which is covered with much older wool Kashmir hand loomed fabric. The lower /inner trim has Kerman Termeh hand loomed wool fabric. It must have gone through some rough times. There are wears from moths on the lower rim. We did freeze it from moths and secured its future with necessary non harmful medical care.
Fabric from the 19th century
