SKU ETH-416
Price

$850.00

Twill Tapestry Hat from Esfähan (Isfahan) or Kerman, İran (Persia). Twill tapestry is one of the common weaves in Esfähan (Isfahan) and Kerman in addition to Termeh and Näkşe silk metallic brocades. They made various clothing and garments from such wool and brocade fabrics. Kerman still has active Dervish Lodges; however, we don’t know which group this hat used to belong to. It has a firm strong body which is covered with Kerman wool Termeh, hand loomed fabric. It is divided into 6 panels with metallic braided bands. The lower /inner trim has Kerman Termeh. Somehow, it survived in great condition. We did freeze it from moths and secured its future with necessary non harmful medical care.

Fabric from the 19th century
