$650.00
Twill Tapestry Hat from Esfähan (Isfahan) or Kerman, İran (Persia). Twill tapestry is one of the common weaves in Esfähan (Isfahan) and Kerman in addition to Termeh and Näkşe silk metallic brocades. They made various clothing and garments from such wool and brocade fabrics. We see here a religious hat made of recycled old wool hand loomed textile fragments. The body of the hat is made of triangular twill woven pieces and the lower band was made of another period textile which is probably older. Lining is a very fine hand loomed cotton.
Fabric from the 19th century
