Lakay (Lakai) Embroidered Velvet Hat from Tocikston (Tajikstan). The Lakay are one of the Turkic groups living in Özbekistan (Uzbekistan), Tocikston and Afğanistan (Afghanistan). They are famous for their silk embroidery on Ikats and velvet. The top of the hat has been decorated with metallic and silk embroidery. The drawing is reminiscent of a talismanic bug. Writing on the side gives the name of the embroiderer. Her name was Fatima. Lined with plain cotton and silk chain stitch embroidered trim with a silver metallic short tassel on the back side.
