Central Asian Afğanistan (Afghanistan) - Embroidered Papier Mâché Hat

Embroidered Papier Mâché Hat from Afğanistan (Afghanistan). Fine metallic embroidery covers the entire surface. On the upper dome portion, it is divided into four sections with lattice and leaf embroidery. 4 is a holy number in Islam, representing the four holy books. The lining in these hats are always of old paper and they only use flour as glue, which is sacred in Islam. 

It is dated between the 1950s and 1960s
