Caucasus Azärbaycan (Azerbaijan) - Bakı (Baku) Silk Embroidered Hat

Silk Embroidered Hat from Bakı (Baku), Azärbaycan (Azerbaijan). In the older days, such hats were a sign of status. Most ethnic groups used to wear them and show their tribe and status. Silk couching and chain-stitch embroidery on very fine silk. Motifs on the side are stylized hanging decorative tassels. Saturated natural colors. It survived in good hands, probably in a hope-chest.

It is dated between the 1920s and 1930s.
