Central Asian Türkmenistan (Turkmenistan) - Çowdur (Chowdur) Silk Embroidery Hat

Silk Embroidered Çowdur (Chowdur) tribe hat from Türkmenistan (Turkmenistan). Some Türkmen hats have the style of their nomadic dwellings – the so called yurt that Türkmen live in. The shape really resembles an Aq Öy (Ak Öý) type of yurt. Fine silk chain-stitch embroidery on red fine cotton. Natural colors from vegetable dyes. One of the common designs of the Çowdur Türkmen. Hand embroidered dark green silk trim. Quilted and lined with Rus (Russian) printed cotton.

It is dated between or prior to the 1900s to 1920s
