Middle Eastern İran (Persia) - Ardäbil (Ardabil) Azärbaycanlı Hat
$300.00
An Azärbaycanlı Hat from Ardäbil (Ardabil), İran (Persia). Ardäbil was the center of the Sufi leader Şeyx Säfiäddin äl-İshaq äl-Musävi äl-Ärdäbili of the Säfävi (Safavid) dynasty from the 13th century C.E. onwards. It is a holly city for Azärbaycan (Azerbaijan). The hat features fine silk and metallic couching embroidery on its top and its sides. Most colors are natural but the light bluish gray has faded a bit, which indicates that it was used and saw some direct light. Surprisingly, the pink and orange red did not fade. The top is covered with “bird eye” motifs. The sides have pinwheel designs in the form of wind mills, meaning a long life for the owner.
It is dated between the 1920s and 1930s.
