Central Asian Türkmenistan (Turkmenistan) - Çowdur (Chowdur) Silk Embroidery Hat

Silk Embroidered Çowdur (Chowdur) tribe hat from Türkmenistan (Turkmenistan). Some Türkmen hats have the style of their nomadic dwellings – the so called yurt that Türkmen live in. The shape really resembles an Aq Öy (Ak Öý) type of yurt. Features fine silk chain-stitch embroidery on a red fine cotton. Natural colors from vegetable dyes. One of the common designs of Çowdur Türkmen that cover the whole surface of the hat. Hand embroidered dark green silk trim. Quilted and lined with Rus (Russian) printed cotton.

It is dated between the 1940s and 1950s
