Middle Eastern İräq (Iraq) - Dur äl-Näcäf (Najaf) Quartz Beads Strand

SKU ETJ-205
Price

$600.00

Dur äl-Näcäf (Najaf) Quartz Beads from the Wädi äl-Säläm (Wadi-al-Salaam) valley in Näcäf (Najaf), İräq (Iraq). The quartz is extremely rare due to its religious significance in Islam. The cemetery located in the valley is near the shrine of Äli ibn Äbi Ṭälib (Ali ibn Abi Talib), the fourth Rashidun Caliph and first Shia Imam. The Dur äl-Näcäf stone is collected at very specific times, often on sunny days after it rains and the stone glitters. Many of the "Najaf" stones on the market are not from Wädi äl-Säläm and/or are made of glass; thus, they are often inauthentic.

It is dated to the 19th century
