Central Asian Afğanistan (Afghanistan) - Låqay (Lakai) Mirror Cover

A fine silk Låqay (Lakai) embroidered mirror cover from Afğanistan (Afghanistan). Contains a braided net in the center. Once, the center had hanging silk tassels. Låqay people are one of the most talented embroiderers of Türkistan (Central Asia). They embroider with wool and silk. Russian printed cotton backing where the mirror would fit. It has mixed dyes that are natural and artificial such as pink and orange.

Dated between 1960 and 1970
