Middle Eastern Filästin (Palestine) - Palestinian Child's Costume

SKU TOSCSR-008
Price

$0.00

The tätriz (tatreez) embroidery is from Bäyt Lähm (Bethlehem), Filästin (Palestine); however, it is not clear (to me) if this costume itself is original or if the tätriz was repurposed for it. At first, I thought the tätriz was from Yäfä (Jaffa), but in the Bäyt Lähm style; however, the piece seems too old for that to be the case. Child's costumes from Filästin are extremely rare.

Previously in a French collection from the 1960s and mistaken for a French doll's folk costume.

Dated between 1930s and 1960s or earlier
