Middle Eastern Şäm (Levant) - Bädäwi (Bedouin) Gilded Necklace
SKU TOSJ-015
Price
$350.00
A Bädäwi (Bedouin) Gilded Necklace from the Şäm (Levant) region. I suspect this originates from Filästin (Palestine) or modern Yisräel (Israel). There was a period in time, where Türkmen (Turkmen) motifs became popular in these areas, presumably do to migrating Jews from Central Asia. This would explain why there are Türkmen style dangles on this piece despite the obvious non-Central Asian character of it. Also, facetted carnelians are typically a Middle Eastern jewelry trait. The gilding is peculiar though.
This is dated to the 20th century
