A Dağdan pendant from Xiva (Khiva), Özbekistan (Uzbekistan). The Dağdan, from Tägäräk (Turkic) tağ tağan or "(that which) fastens onto a mountain," refers to a tree growing from on top of a mountain. It is one of the few Shamanistic elements left in Türkmen (Turkmen) jewelry that can be traced back to the Huns. Sometimes, the shape is mistaken and conflated with that of a frog. In truth, it has nothing to do with it. Xorazmlik (Khwarazmian) jewelry is extremely rare.
