Inanç Yabğu

Inanç (Türki: اِنَنچ), known primarily by his Abrahamic name Musa (Persian: موسي), was the son of Sälçük Sübaşı.

History

Given their Abrahamic names, Inanç and his siblings were likely born during their father's service to the Xazar xaqan. It is unclear if Sälçük and his clan were practitioners of Judaism or were merely adopting Xazar customs to gain favor with the Xazar xaqan.

Following an Oğuz civil war, Sälçük presumably became the de-facto yabğu for the Türkmän; however, it was his son, Arslan, who is first attested with the title. Meanwhile, the Oğuz yabğu was Şah Mälik ibn Ali Yabğu. Following either Arslan's imprisonment at the hands of Äbu äl-Qäsim Mähmud ibn Säbügtigin or following death in imprisonment, Inanç inherited the title of yabğu.
