Kaşğär

Kaşğär (Türki: كاشغەر; Chinese: 喀什噶爾), also referred to as Qäşqär (Uyğurçe: قەشقەر), but formerly Şrikrirati (Chinese: 疏附, 疏勒), is an ancient city along the Silk Road.

Location

75.993800, 39.468100

Etymology

Its current name derives from Tägäräk *kɑlʲ "jade" and possibly an Iranic *ɣar "mountain." Şrikrirati presumably derives from an Indic language.
