Bağatur was most likely a title bestowed upon the son of Tümän, who was also known by his title. Bağatur's personal name is not known, nor is his age. However, we do know he was a soldier prior to 209 B.C.E., possibly prior to Meng Tian's invasion of Oğuz land. Sima Qian suggests that his relationship with his father was antagonistic. This is corroborated by Tümän's absence in the Oğuz Bitig and his portrayal as Qara Qağan in the Oğuznamä.
